An unusual monument was opened in Odessa on the 5th of October, 2012 in front of a student dormitory. It is 2 meters tall and represents a palm made of different metal parts with a hole inside that looks like the Apple logo. The company belonged to Steven Jobs (1955-2011). The title reads: "Thanks, Steve". Several hundred people attended the formal opening, many of them holding photos of Mr. Jobs.
The date of the opening was an anniversary of Job’s death. The sculptor was K.Maximenko. Several hundred kilos of metal parts had been used. This was the first monument to S.Jobs in the former USSR.
The monument is lit at night and there is a free Wi-Fi zone around.
Nowadays some researches claims that the community of Mac, iPhone, iPod and iPad users are a sect. This monument seems to support this theory.
